Flubber Flow

Selfoss, Iceland | Shot from a Cessna airplane

What's in the photo?

I think I photographed this glacier river countless times. And each time I've seen in a different way. From vibrant blues and greens in to soft pastels. Its color and patterns depends on several factors, like the tides, rainfall or time of the year. This is my favorite one.

About the photograph

At Iceland’s south coast flows the powerful Ölfusá River, born from the meeting of glacial meltwater and crystal-clear spring rivers. These green hues appear when sunlight penetrates the water, reflecting off fine glacial silt suspended in the flow, a natural alchemy that turns the river into a living canvas. It is one of those rare places where geology, light, and water combine to create patterns that feel almost surreal.
